The trouble with this commercial is that it shows children doing what they are more and more unlikely to be doing, running around in a great big natural world, rather than staying at home and looking at ITV 1.
That for me is the big disconnect, the makers of this commercial have used considerable skill and imagination to create a picture that is utterly at variance with what they are selling. I accept that this is the nature of advertising but there are limits and I feel that the very skill and craft that has gone into this advert makes it more reprehensible.
Quite apart from anything else, and I may be wrong, but I get the idea that the commercial is meant to be set in Scotland, but what are the penguins doing? Charming as they are, they live only in the Southern Hemisphere, so one can only assume that this piece was actually shot in South Africa. All in all, an elegant but pernicious fraud.
