The presenter is a psycho who cheerily tells us all about his increasingly alarming fantasy world, fully enabled by PC World. He morphs rather cack-handedly into different characters including, amongst others, his father and his wife, or presumably his imaginary wife, since his entire sad and lonely world seems to actually come, without wires from PC world.
Incidentally, when the psycho becomes his own wife he looks a bit like that woman who married Paul McCartney, once memorably described, I think by the columnist AN Wilson as ‘that tiresome pegleg’ – otherwise known for some reason as Mucca.
The more I look at the advert, the more inept and sad it seems – badly made, badly thought out and fundamentally wrong headed. I suppose it might just possibly have looked alright on paper, but the execution is several megabites short of a download, though I don't think it really matters. I imagine that the promise of being able to stream movies directly and wirelessly from your PC to your TV will prove irresistible.
In that sense, it is lucky that PC World has no image to damage, it is just a shed full of cheap(ish) computers, and people will no doubt still go there, regardless of how daffy the adverts are.
