I have always bought Persil, despite what Val from my focus group says. She's always going on about the fact that Persil isn't as good as Ariel, and we're all being conned by the lovely adverts. Well, maybe we are, but I don't care, I like my Persil, and I like the Persil ads. So what if it doesn't get things quite as clean as Ariel, or doesn't work so well on gravy, I just don't feel like an Ariel mum, I feel like a Persil mum. I think that's what they set out to do, it's quite a "sophisticated marketing approach', that's what they say these days anyway.
More like good old fashioned common sense to me. Nobody's that interested in how a washing powder works are they? They just want to get on with life and not have to think too much about it all - that's what Persil understood and all I can say is well done, and I don't mind if it's not quite as good as the other one. Who cares, get a life - that's what I say.
