Oddly enough I seem to remember that when Phileas Fogg first came out back in the 80s they used animation in their commercials. The ads were quite good as I recall, but talk about a lost opportunity- authentic snacks from around the world, it's all out there, exotic locations all over the place, just waiting for you, and the furthest the poor creative team got was an animation studio in a basement in Soho. How dumb is that?
I can't believe the creatives went for this approach deliberately, and I suspect they got bamboozled by the account team with a lot of guff about budgets and originality. Still they seem to have sorted that out, but it has taken them quite a while, and I can only hope that they don't get grounded again, what with the credit crunch and all that.
