Some ads just sit there, they don't really have any effect at all. This just such a confection. It ticks all the boxes, I can see what they're trying to say, but I just don't care. It has all the hallmarks of an ad put together by an efficient committee. It lacks even the momentary amusement of cack handedness that is often produced by inefficient committees. It slips out of the screen without causing the tiniest ripple of interest. In their successful efforts to get everything just right for the time, they have produced something that fails to engage on any level.
OK I'm not particularly in the target market, but I can't imagine that Aero fans of any age would find anything of interest in this ad. As I've said, it's not bad, it's just nothing. All the right elements are there, anonymous location, skaterboy, aero bubbles, slightly retro track-it is a perfect synthesis of numerous ads out there at the moment, but in its attempt to appear contemporary it has merely succeeded in vanishing altogether.
It is further proof, if any were required, that you can say all the right things in the right way and still end up failing to connect. All I can really take away from this is a vague idea that I've been watching a load of computer generated balls.
