Val, who I do my focus group with, says `the brand has lost it's focus'. Well if that means it's all over the shop, then I agree. When my Saph was little we used to go down there on a Saturday morning, but she says she hasn't been in the place for years, and to be honest I don't know why I go there anymore, maybe it's just habit.
This advert is hardly about Woollies at all, in fact Val says that it's just a Nintendo ad with Woollies stuck on at the end. That's because they haven't got any money to make their own ads any more, they show other peoples and then say that you can buy whatever it is at Woolworths.
Well I'm sure it makes sense, if you haven't got any money, but if you're losing focus, then not having your own adverts can't be helping things can it? I mean they used to have quite clever ones, and we used to look forward to the Woollies Xmas adverts.
I reckon these adverts say quite a lot about poor old Woollies, and I'll bet you that they are going broke and that they won't be around by next Christmas. Which is a shame really, because it's at Christmas time that you suddenly remember why you go to Woollies don't you? Wrapping paper, chocolates, little gifts for Aunt Vi, all that sort of thing.
