Sometimes you see an ad and you think what a bloody shame - I was coming up with ads like this in the 70s and 80s, but they wouldn't let me put them on the telly. I mean we were so uptight about everything in this country back then. They were cooler in Europe, and there were some outrageous ads knocking about from Scandinavia, and even the Spanish had some pretty strong stuff, but us poor old prim and proper Brits, we weren't allowed to join in at all.
Everything had to be done in the best possible taste so that we wouldn't offend some old grannies in Eastbourne. I'm sure they had grannies in Holland or Sweden and were they offended by the outrageous ads? I don't know, maybe they were, and nobody gave a stuff, or maybe they just had a good laugh like the rest of us. Either way the Europeans could do ads for glue with nuns sticking knobs back on statues the wrong way round and piss all over us at the awards because we weren't allowed do rude ads in the UK.
Well, this ad for Huggies with the baby weeing all over the place indicates that now we are, and it's great. All I can say is that it's fine for the young squirts in the UK who are writing the ads right now, but it's a real pisser for us old farts who never had a chance to do ads like this, and believe me we were certainly coming up with them back then.
