"NM - possibly.."

Nowhere Man
but used to be big in business

Well, Howard seems to have won. Whatever the bosses at Halifax may think of him, they obviously haven't had the guts to get rid of him, and he's back at the helm, with a vengeance. The poor spikey haired lad in the last commercial is nowhere to be seen and this commercial is also a bit more slickly done.
I got a ticking off from Mr Mustard when I reviewed that last Halifax ad for not saying how bloody awful it was, well this one isn't quite as cack handed as that one. It has a certain class and makes some sense, though I'm certain that the idea of the building floating away has been done before. I think it was part of that privatisation bun fight that took place in the `80s.
What a party that was for us admen. It was like being caught in a tropical storm of cash, you just couldn't get away from it. For God's sake, the bloody Government was actually ordering all these nationalised dinosaurs to spend millions on advertising, so that everyone would buy shares in them when they went private, or floated. Now that's the clue, you see, flotation, that's why I reckon it was one of those privatisation campaigns that used floating buildings, but hey I was pretty out of it for most of that time, so my memories are a bit hazy. If anyone can fill me in on this I'd be most grateful. I think it was quite well done, and I think I remember feeling a bit jealous, so it probably wasn't one of mine, is all I can say
