Dear Prudence
she's out to play

I don't want to be unpleasant but I'm afraid I really don't understand what this is all about. It's for Ford and an orchestra of people appear to be playing a classical piece on instruments that for some reason have been made out of bits their cars. It's not vulgar or badly made, it just doesn't really make any sense. I'm not sure what it is trying to tell us about Fords, or indeed why they bothered to make it.
It has a note attached to it on the site, which indicates that it was shown at that celebration of American macho culture, the Superbowl. This is a rather special event for advertisers in the States, and I've heard that if you want to be seen as one of the big swinging corporate dicks you just have to have an ad on during the Superbowl.
Perhaps Ford got caught short this year and suddenly realised that they didn't have an ad that was ready to go. So maybe they just panicked and said, make us an ad, any ad, but make it quick, otherwise we'll miss the Superbowl and everyone will think we've got really small dicks.
If true, well what a bunch of silly boys is what I say. This ad ain't going to do much for their big swinging dick ratio, in fact, speaking personally, as a girl, I think the whole thing is far and away much too girly. A cooky Jap car brand like Honda might be able to get away with a load of choir boys yodelling away in their ads, but this is all-American Ford, and this is the Superbowl, and I'm sorry, but this ad is just plain wrong.
