Nowhere Man
but used to be big in business

I like this one, but I reckon it could have been done so much better. The brief was obviously, how do you get the idea of serious rock and roll hotel wrecking across with a limited budget? Well, if you want hotel wrecking on the cheap, you just do it in a dolls house. What a fantastic idea, but for me it doesn't really quite take off. Perhaps it needed a bit more thought and effort.
Sometimes, when you have a fantastic idea you take the foot off the gas. Fantastic, you cry, job done, fucking brilliant. But actually the world is full of good ideas that haven't really been 'breathed on' enough. On the other hand, if you've got a bit of slim idea, you tend to give it rock all, because you're not sure it's ever going to fly. Some of the best ads have been built around tiny little thoughts, hardly ideas at all, but by hard work and a lot of thought they've managed to build them into something really special. I'm afraid I was never much good at that, and I'm probably having a pop at myself on this one. If I'd come up with the rock and roll dolls house idea, I'd have probably knocked off as well, but it's still a bit of a shame.
It just doesn't quite have all the feeling of mayhem you'd expect. I like the rocking teddy bear, whatever he's doing, and the roller in the swimming pool is a good moment, but I suppose my imagination ran away with me when I got the idea and I guess I was expecting more somehow. Maybe I'm just a whining old misery guts who hung out (briefly) with Keith Moon and Slash at the Chateau Marmont in L.A. when they were at the height of their powers, but it could have really blown my socks off. As it is, they're still on but are tingling slightly. Of course that may just be bad circulation and athletes foot or maybe even, in my dreams, a touch of gout.

Or could have been better?
