The idea of the ads, if it can be so described, is of a sort of road show where eager `members of the public' challenge Churchill to provide answers to their pressing car insurance problems. The notion that people are this interested in car insurance is in itself alarming, and also questionable. Apparently huge numbers of people are driving around without any kind of insurance, so they won't be challenging Churchill, and a lot of the rest of us would probably rather not think about it at all. So I would hope that actual attendance at any of Churchills appearances would be pretty small.
The fact that these ads are so obviously staged, would seem to indicate that this is the case, and if so, then there is still hope for the nation. When real people start willingly to engage in conversations about car insurance with a fuzzy felt nodding dog, it's time to begin thinking seriously about leaving the country.
