It's not England, I don't quite know why, but it just doesn't look right. Val, who does the focus group with me on Thursdays, and has been to Miami on her holidays at least twice says its not America either, and she reckons it's South Africa. She says that lots of the big companies go to South Africa to make their ads, because it's sunny when it's winter here, and it doesn't really look like anywhere, unless you get table mountain in the picture or a monkey, you don't get jet lag and it's dead cheap too.
This ad doesn't look like anywhere really, but Val says that's deliberate, so that they can put it on telly all over the world and nobody will feel that it's not for them. I don't think that works because I think no one will identify with this ad because, nobody will feel that it's about where they live. It certainly doesn't work for me. Apart from the fact that I don't quite understand why the car comes out from behind a tree as the man dances down the street with his baby in his arms, I just like to know where I am.
