About me
Having gone through the ranks in London as a photographer's assistant Mark moved to Hong Kong in 1979 and set up his own studio. Mark's reputation for a creative and flexible approach to his work led to Advertising, Corporate and Editorial assignments throughout Asia.
Mark brought his distinctive photographic style as a DOP to a series of commercials for Chase Manhattan Bank (now JP Morgan Chase), and was subsequently invited to join Academy One Films - where he went on to make over 150 commercials as a Director/DOP.
He moved his base back to the UK in the early 90s, and has continued to work worldwide as Director/DOP on commercials for Lux, Nestlé, Toyota & HSBC (amongst others) and Corporate Films for major blue chip companies ever since. He is currently involved in creating an ongoing series of Vodcasts for IBM UK on various green issues.
Many of the projects Mark has been involved with have gone on to win major awards at The Clios, The 4As in Asia, the IAF in New York, and the IVCA. He has also been awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society for his work in Film
Mark believes that the Director's main role is to tell the story - from a vignette in a commercial to a product or service overview in a corporate film, and his ability to do this is reflected in all his productions. To date he has never (knowingly) thrown a tantrum.
Outside of work Mark plays guitar (for fun!) in a gigging band.
