Ad Story
A young businessman in striped shirt and braces is talking into a huge mobile at Heathrow in 1984, as a newspaper headlines the miners' strike. Inside, his attention is grabbed by an air steward in a bright red uniform. Passengers in the concourse are spellbound by a posse of identically dressed women strolling through the area, causing a sensation everywhere they go, and dismaying more soberly dressed representatives of other airlines, and a professional model being photographed. The dress and artefacts of 1984 seen throughout the piece are contrasted with the dress of the stewards, and a Virgin Atlantic plane is seen soaring over the clouds with the Jersey Girl winking, as a screen message superimposed on the clouds welcomes the next 25 years of the airline.
