Mark Benton's bank manager character notes the sign outside a Nationwide branch and barges in to ask a representative why they don't charge customers for using their cards abroad. He says they should, and to tell customers that it's like a tip, so that they can kit out the staffroom like a billionaire's yacht. The narrator advises that Nationwide don't charge for this, which probably accounts for the number of people who have cards with them.
