A man in a pub notes the date of 1759 on his Guinness glass, and raises it in a toast celebrating Arthur Guinness' 250 years, calling out 'to Arthur'. The salutation is taken up by others in the pub, and then outside, where it is is misheard as 'to Martha', and then on to crowds all around the world, changing slightly like Chines whispers each time. The narrator invites us to join the world-wide celebration of a man named Arthur and a beer named Guinness, and Arthur's Day Party is noted on screen as being 24th September.
